--(www.USEquityNews.com)-- 05/13/2008 - Wireless Communications industry alert provided by U.S. Equity News. Shares of Knology Inc. (NASDAQ: KNOL) rose sharply recently after the cable operator reported a narrower first-quarter loss, leading a Jefferies & Co. analyst to reiterate a "Buy" rating. Knology shares climbed $1.21, or 9.1 percent, to $14.51. The stock has ranged from $8.47 to $19.02 over the past year. Although Knology's quarterly net loss of 9 cents per share was a penny per share worse than the average estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial, revenue came in slightly above projections. Jefferies analyst Romeo Reyes called the results solid.

Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) Corp.'s Dan Hesse had little good news to share recently on the eve of addressing his first shareholder meeting as chief executive of the troubled wireless carrier. The company also announced it was exploring the possible sale of noncore assets, though officials didn't give any specifics.
