Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp.'s (NYSE:CDE) (CDE) first-quarter earnings fell to $4.72 million, or 1 cents a share, from $14 million, or 5 cents a share, a year earlier, hurt in part by higher production costs.
A Thomson Reuters survey of analysts, on average, predicted earnings of 2 cents a share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates usually exclude items.
The Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, mining company said metal sales increased to $57.3 million from $50.9 million.
