The BEST OF programming on Sirius XM Radio may provide a shock jock solution for Sirius subscribers who love their Howard Stern, but express frustration on the days when Stern is on vacation, or when there are replays of the Stern show instead of a live show.

It is no secret that Howard Stern gets a lot of time off. After all, the King of All Media gets three day weekends thanks to a contract that allows him to take of every Friday. Last year, Sirius added Jay Thomas to the Friday morning slot on Howard 101 which provided a solution to the problem of no live programming on Friday’s. The solution was great, and as a fan of Jay Thomas, I enjoy being able to catch him in morning drive. Jay already has an afternoon drive slot on Sirius Stars 102.

However, what is a fan to do when they want a topical shock jock show when Stern and the crew are on vacation? One potential answer is Opie and Anthony. Now for passionate Stern and O & A fans, the crossover idea may seem strange. After all, there seems to be no love loss between Stern and O & A, and that attitude permeates through to the core fans. However, there exists a large group of subscribers that simply want to be entertained, and their allegiance to one brand over another is not so strong that they will ignore a quality show in the absence of their usual listening.

Lately, the Stern channels have been running replays. With Stern getting married, and regularly scheduled vacations, fans have not received the live entertainment that they have come to love. Subscribers who have taken advantage of the BEST OF programming now have a solution in the form of Opie and Anthony from the XM line-up.

For O & A, this is an opportunity to shine, and a chance to expand their own audience. The duo have been putting on entertaining shows, and are likely getting a bit of exposure from frustrated Stern fans who are seeking something other than a replay to listen to. If you are into Stern, and sometimes want a change of pace, the BEST of programming offers a great way to keep your shock jock options open.

Position - Long SIRI

I wonder if either Stern or O and A will end up in a differenttime slot. Perhaps afternoon drive. I read somewhere a while back that Stern was "tired" of early morning schedules.

O&A is not the answer. No one that's a Sirius subscriber is going to get the best of XM just for O&A. But XM sub's will get the best of Sirius just to get Howard. Your comments on live programming and "Shock Jocks" is way off! You might want to say "In the same time slot". Because Bubba The Love Sponge is on live every day, five days a week and never off when Howard is. The Scott Ferrall show is on EVERY night live, never a replay! So don't say O&A is any answer to anything to do with Howard's channels when their not even a bump in the road for Sirius if they left satellite radio. Jeff

I subscribed to the best of XM partly because of O&A . And to get Southeastern conference sports on Sirius .
Actually O&A was one of the reasons i jumped on the Best of XM package . And the ability to receive southeastern conference sports programming made it a good choice for me.

I am a XMer, and have been since 2004 when O&A came on. I was also a huge Howard Stern fan in the late 80's thru the mid-90's. A friend turned me on to O&A when they came to NYC and I've been hooked even since. They are the best thing on radio these days along with Ron and Fez NOON to 3 on XM 202 and Sirus 197. I have no desire to listen to Stern anymore, but would pay for the NFL channel at a lower price, maybe a $1 a month.

Jeff, you sir a moron. Bubba = fake radio voice... and if you want a tough guy radio host that says "I will quit Sirius if O&A are signed" and doesnt quit when they ARE signed how bout you give me $10,000 and I promise to give you $20,000 at a later date... all right how bout you stink and I dont like you. (this is going great) O&A are for fans of the genre that appreciate honest cringe radio that is closer to Howard than Bubba the moldy sponge or mr. shake it up. Hell the Ron & Fez fan base is bigger than Bubba...The Virus channel is a great reason to get the best of XM. The only reason I would consider switching is for E Street Radio just cause I wouldnt mind hearing some concerts I had no chance of seeing live.
