Teens are flocking to Foot Locker to buy Nikes, according to a recent survey of 30 stores nationwide. Stores offered TickerMine insight into their typical customers, top selling items and brands, store traffic, amount of merchandise on sale, average price spent on shoes, and what brands that don't carry that customers request. Overall, young males and teenage boys are the most frequent buyers, according to 70% of locations surveyed. Other frequent customers mentioned were young adults, men in their 20s and men in general. Only one location mentioned women as top purchasers. Nike reins as the top-selling brand at 77% of stores, and the Nike Air Jordan shoes and clothing and Nike Air Force Ones were mentioned as the top overall selling items. Running shoes, in general, were also mentioned as the best selling items. Other popular brands were Adidas and Puma, each mentioned as top sellers by 10% of stores, and K Swiss, mentioned by 3% of stores. Sixty percent of respondents said that they do not receive requests for brands that they do not carry, and only Vans (named by 10% of locations) was named by more than one store as a frequently requested brand. Business seems to be holding strong at the majority of Foot Locker locations, with 37% saying traffic has increased in the past few weeks and 37% saying it has stayed the same. Merchandise on sale levels seem to be high, with more items on sale at 57% of locations than last month, the same amount at 23% of locations, and less items on sale at only 20% of locations. The average price for shoes paid by customers is $98, although average prices range from $50 to $200. On average, customers pay $50-$75 at 24% of stores, $80-$100 at 57% of stores, $101-$125 at 7% of stores, and $150-$200 at 13% of stores.

May 08 Survey: Nike is the Best Selling Shoe Brand for Teenagers, Foot Locker Store Survey says

Analysts are giving conflicting reports on Foot Locker, Inc., the retailer of running shoes and sports apparel. Tickermine surveyed 31 stores nationwide and asked what were the three current best-selling items, which is the best selling shoe brand for teenagers, is business up or down from last month, who are the most frequent buyers and what does the average customer spend on shoes? Our poll showed that Nike Shoes and apparel as well as other apparel were the top three selling items. The best-selling shoe brand for teenagers was Nike (21 respondents or 68%), followed by Adidas (3 or 10%), Converse and then Pastry (2 or 6%). The following each received one vote or 3% each: K Swiss, Puma and Sketchers. 14 respondents felt that business had increased from last month (45%) and the same amount felt that business was the same. Only three or 10% saw business declining from a month ago. Our survey found that their most frequent buyers were either joggers buying running shoes or teens buying tennis shoes. As for the amount spent at Foot Locker stores; 42 % said their customers spent between $51 - $75. 35% stated $76 - $100, 13% said between $101 - $125 and 10% felt their customers spent less than $50.
