FC Sales Affected by Economic Slowdown

Worries about the economy have affected sales of North Face clothing and gear, according 61% of respondents in a recent poll. 32% reported that jackets are their best selling items while 14% cited camping gear. 93% said they currently have enough jackets in stock, while the same number (93%) said they are able to get more if necessary.

Bebe Business Stays Strong

A survey of Bebe, the trendy clothing boutique, found that while just 4% of respondents call July sales “Very Strong”, another 86% state sales are “Above Average” (43%) or “Average” (43%). Despite the strong sales, 57% report their store has excess inventory. 61% report an average receipt between $50 and $75.

62% of Dick's Sporting Goods Spokespeople Report More Sales

Tickermine surveyed Dick’s Sporting Goods, the retailer, this week. Twenty eight stores were consulted and asked which brands sell best? Which shoe brands appeal to teen shoppers? Has business increased this past few weeks and are more items on sale? The three top selling items this survey were golf equipment, New Balance products and any thing by Nike. 81% of those polled said Nike was most popular with teens followed by Reebok (cited by 8%) and New Balance (also 8%). Surprisingly 50% of those polled said business was up recently. 38% said it was the same and 12% said business was flatter than before. Sales may well be a contributor. 62% reported having more sales now than before, 19% report having the same level and 19% say there are less. People don't spend that much however. 54% said their customers spend less than $75 per visit. 38% said customers spend between $80-$100 and only 8% report customers spending more than that.

Only Two Brands Dominate Sales at Sport Haley Stores

Sport-Haley, Inc., the women’s sporting clothes retailer was profiled this week. Our researchers consulted 24 stores and asked respondents which clothing sells best? How well are these items stocked? Can you access additional stock if you run out? And has the economy impacted sales? Only two items were cited as best-selling: the Aerocool Polos were cited by 54% and the Desert Diamond Collection was mentioned by 13%. 92% said they had sufficient stock of this item. Only 8% said they needed more. 13% said they were sold out of this item while 87% said they could access more. And 62% of those interviewed said their customer demographic was unfazed by the economy. Only 38% said the economy had dented sales.

Dell Brand Still the Top-Selling Desktop Computer

Tickermine surveyed 33 stores stocking Dell computers including Wal-Mart, Best Buy, RadioShack and Circuit City and found that compared to other brands, 26 stores (79%) sell more Dell computers. Dell was also rated as the top selling desktop at 18 stores (55%). HP was the top selling desktop computer at 9 stores (27%). Of the top selling desktops, 37% belong to the XPS Model Series, 27% belong to Pavillion and 21% Inspirion. All (100%) of the top-selling desktops use the Intel microprocessor.

Gas Prices Increased at Chevron as Expected

As anticipated last month, gas prices have risen at Chevron gas stations to $4.06 per gallon according to Tickermine’s latest survey. The average price for premium unleaded gas was reported as $4.31 per gallon. Of the 32 Chevron gas stations around the country surveyed, 23 (72%) respondents stated that they would cut down on trips if prices continue to go up.
