In
TickerMine's latest survey of Joe's Jeans, 33% of stores reported that
Joe's Jeans are selling better than denim from other designers.
Sixty-three percent said Joe's Jeans were selling at the same rate as
other brands. Ninety-six percent of stores polled said they did not
have excess inventory of any particular brand of designer jean. Only
17% of stores said the weak economy and housing market are hurting
their sales. Joe's Jeans and True Religion were both cited as top
selling women's jeans by 13% of stores; Juicy Couture was mentioned by
eight percent. Stores polled included Joe's Jeans retail sites,
Nordstrom, and regional boutiques.
The Daily Grill Restaurant Menu Hasn't Changed in Years
Sixteen locations of the Daily Grill, a restaurant chain owned by
Grilled Concepts, was profiled this week. We asked about the customer
wait times, which shift is busiest, what people are ordering and how
much they spend. We found that 44% of those polled said that customers
wait 15 minutes or less. 19% reported 20 to 30 minute long waits, 13%
reported 35 to 40 minute waits while 25% reported customers are not
waiting at all. 69% of those we interviewed said customers spend
$30-$50 per party of two. 19% reported $60-$67 was typical and 13%
reported bills of $100 for two. 75% said their dinner shift was
busiest. 25% said it was lunch. 69% reported having no weekly specials.
Only 31% reported having some. And that’s because 81% felt the weekly
specials do nothing to attract more business, only 19% felt they
helped. 19% said the Mr Jack’s Chicken Finger Platter was a
best-selling menu item. The same figure cited the Old-Fashioned
Hamburger and 25% cited steaks. All 16 respondents or 100% of those
polled said their location had been around longer than a year and all
said their menu items hadn’t changed in ages either. And while 69% said
the economy had done nothing to slow business, 31% thought the economy
hurt things a lot.
35% of Tuesday Morning Store Folk say the Economy Dents their Sales
Tuesday Morning, the retailer, was surveyed as summer closes. We
approached 23 locations around the country and asked how summer sales
compared with last year’s, what is the best selling cookware line, do
most people shop for gifts for others as opposed to purchasing for
themselves and do they expect to see more sale merchandise? Results
were mostly positive with 43% saying sales were busier this summer. 13%
said it was the same and 39% said that this year they were worse off.
Calphalon was the best selling cookware for 35% of those polled. 22%
said it was Cuisinart and 13% cited Faberware. Surprisingly 78% of
Tuesday Morning customers shop for themselves according to the survey.
13% are buying gifts. Most people, 96%, said they will see sale
merchandise the summer, 4% said they would not.
