Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) is expected to report fiscal second quarter earnings after the close today. The market analysts on Wall Street are expecting the firm to report net income of 34 cents per share with revenue to total $5.84 billion. Oracle, one of the world’s leading suppliers of software for information management, is trying to compete against HP and IBM. The company had posted earnings per share of 30 cents a year ago and has so far experienced a growth of 10 percent. Shares were going higher by 15 cents or 0.90 percent to $16.89 in afternoon session in NASDAQ trading on Thursday, with volumes at 11,553,445.
Palm, Inc. (NASDAQ: PALM) is expected to experience bearish growth as some of the market analysts have placed the company on "Sell" rating and a target earnings per share price of zero. The company has been trying to resurrect itself with the release of fiscal second quarter earnings on Thursday. The company has already projected its earnings with revenue in the range of $190 million to $195 million, which is almost half the expectation of market analysts on Wall Street. The company's current earnings estimate is 39 cents per share. Shares were moving higher by 15 cents or 6.82 percent to $2.35 in afternoon session in NASDAQ trading on Thursday, with volumes at 789,097.
Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) shares turned red ahead of the company's third-quarter earnings release today after market close. The market of cell phone devices has not been an easy one in the last few months after financial turmoil pushed the world's largest economy, the U.S., into recession. The analysts on Wall Street are still expecting the firm to post a profit of 83 cents per share on revenue of $2.8 billion, on average. The a world leader in the mobile communications market and has a history of developing breakthrough wireless solutions. The company's growth has increased by 23 percent. Shares were slipping down by 72 cents or 1.77 percent to $39.95 in afternoon session in NASDAQ trading on Thursday, with volumes at 9,377,690.
Photronics Inc. PLAB (NASDAQ GS), which makes equipment used to produce semiconductors and flat panel displays, is expected to report earnings of 12 cents with a revenue higher by nearly 2 percent. The company is also a leading worldwide manufacturer of photomasks, which are high precision quartz plates that contain microscopic images of electronic circuits. Shares were moving down by 7 cents, or 6.73 percent, to 97 cents in NASDAQ trading after closing at $1.04 in the regular session yesterday. The company's growth has severely dropped by 38 percent.
Darden Restaurants, Inc.(NYSE:DRI) is scheduled to report second quarter earnings after the market closes. The market analysts on Wall Street are expecting the restaurant chain will post little to no profit rise for the quarter. Some of the analysts are looking for 31 cents. Orlando, Fla.-based Darden may not be able to keep up with its full-year outlook on eroding same-store sales. Darden operates Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze and Smokey Bones restaurants in North America. Shares of the company were dropping by 34 cents or 1.41 percent to $23.79 in composite trading on New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, with volume of 1,013,702
