What if there was a company that thrived when the rest of the economy was down? Well there is. Since last year this company has gone from $13 a share all the way up to $40 a share while the rest of the stock market lost 40-50%! But that's not all! They keep reporting record earnings and increasing their dividends. How can a company be so prosperous in this economy? Here is how.
Life Partners Holdings Inc. deals in the business of viatical settlements.
They buy life insurance policies at discount from face value for investment
purposes. Well when people need money and they are terminally ill, they can sell
their life insurance policy to LPHI for cash. This is extremely helpful in a
down economy when money is a necessity. Life Partners usually does this
exchanging through high net worth individuals, which makes their investments
more profitable. Especially with the baby boomers aging, this could really have
an impact of their business in the next 5-10 years.
Why I like them. Over the last year they have more than doubled their
profits. They have increased their dividend. They continue to make efforts to
pay off their debt(which is miniscule now). The business they are dealing in
has a very expanding future. They are the leader in their type of business.
So whats not to like about them?
Although it has exploded this past year, i still think their is profits to be
made in this company and industry. I would buy on any dips, and hold for the
long term. LPHI can be extremely volatile at times, dropping a couple dollars in
a day, but it is usually followed with a counter reaction the following day.
