Wall Street Ends Higher As Financials Rally, Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) Soars

(By Salman - iStockAnalyst Writer)US stocks finished with gains on Thursday as a rally in financials helped offset weakness in healthcare stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 4.76 points or 0.06% to finish at 8,178.41. The S&P 500 rose 3.12 points or 0.35% to end at 882.68. The Nasdaq Composite increased 5.38 points or 0.31% to 1,752.55.

Goldman Sachs (NYSE: ) soared $4.66 or 3.36% to $143.21.JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM) soared 91 cents or 2.78% to $33.62. Shares of Bank of America (NYSE: ) increased 13 cents or 1.10% to end at $11.97.

General Electric (NYSE: ) rose 15 cents or 1.40% to 10.86.

Shares of chemical giant DuPont (NYSE: ) advanced 32 cents or 1.32$ to $24.50.

IBM (NYSE: ) climbed $1.40 or 1.39% to $103.08.

Shares of Walt Disney, the largest theme park operator gained 20 cents or 1.30% to close at $22.53.

On the downside, Merck & Co. (NYSE: ) plunged $1.03 or 3.67% to $27.01.Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: ) lost 32 cents or 2.19% to $14.29.

Early on Thursday, Costco Wholesale Corp.
