U.S. Markets Hit New Yearly High - T,HGG,XOM,CVX,FDX,UPS

Stock markets in the United States have hit a new one year high during trade on Friday. The Dow put on 36.28 points while the S&P 500 gained 2.81 and the Nasdaq which had a slow start increased 6.11 points. The sector map was mixed today with services and energy gaining 0.35 percent and 0.23 percent respectively while transportation slid slightly by 0.09 percent.

Shares of AT&T (T) gained 2.58 percent while retailer HHGregg (HGG) jumped 19.55 percent to $17.98. Exxon Mobil (XOM) was 0.21 percent higher as oil futures declined and Chevron (CVX) increased 0.93 percent. Meanwhile, shipping companies Fedex (FDX) and competitor United Parcel Service (UPS) both declined.

There were no major reports released from the United States today.

The Dow Jones Index gained 36.28 points (0.37%) to 9,820.20, while the S&P 500 index added 2.81 points (0.26%) to 1,068.30

Crude oil for October delivery was recently trading at $71.77 per barrel, lower by $0.70.

Gold for October delivery was recently trading lower by $4.80 to $1008.70.

Treasuries declined on the week after better than expected retail sales, manufacturing, and housing reports showed the U.S. economy is at the beginning stages of recovery. Yield on the 10-year note climbed 1 basis point to 3.39%.
