The earnings calendar looks very light this week ahead of next week's initial third quarter reports. Here are the key earnings reports should watch for this week:

Walgreens (WAG)

While Walgreen's stock has jumped 15% since the beginning of July, the stock has delivered disappointing earnings results each of the past three quarters. Expectations have come down, but expect another tough quarter for Walgreens.

Darden Restaurants (DRI)

Darden Restaurants has performed quite well in this current economic recession as sales grew 8% last quarter. We are expecting another solid quarter with revenues likely inline with Street consensus, but cost savings should deliver better than expected earnings results. Read full preview.

Nike (NKE)

While top-line sales results are not going to look positive, we expect that Nike could deliver quarterly earnings that exceed consensus expectations. The weakening US dollar should also help lift international revenues.
