Winners and Losers
Major market ETFs, including the SPY, DIA, UYG and others, are mostly firmer as the broader stock market looks to snap back, at least modestly, from Friday's sharp declines. Service-sector data are due out at 10 a.m. ET. The PowerShares QQQ (
QQQQ), which tracks the technology-studded Nasdaq Composite, is up 0.7% this morning. The fund closed in oversold territory above the 200-day moving average Friday.
Technology Select Sector SPDR (
XLK) is flat. iShares U.S. Technology (
IYW) should see increased interest closer to the opening bell. iShares S&P North American Technology Semiconductor (
IGW) and Semiconductor HOLDRs (
SMH) could see increased interest closer to the bell. Brocade (
BRCD) is gaining following a WSJ report that the company has quietly put itself up for sale. Hewlett-Packard (
HPQ) is among the companies looking at Brocade, and Oracle (
ORCL) may also be be examining a purchase, the paper said. Trident Microsystems (
TRID) and NXP Semiconductors announced that they have signed a definitive agreement whereby Trident will acquire NXP's television systems and set-top box business lines.

Oil futures continue to drift below $70 a barrel. November futures were last down $0.73 at $69.22.
