Where Does The Evony Money Go?

 March 24, 2010 12:11 PM

My sources tell me that Evony earns over $150,000 per day. Anyone who has looked at the Evony Terms of Use Agreement will know that the company that is running the game in the world is Regan Mercantile US, LLC.  Yet here is a receipt for a payment to Evony and you will see that the money goes to a different company:

TRANSACTION CONFIRMATION

You have successfully made a payment to Regan Mercantile(Hong Kong) Limited using your credit/debit card (VISA, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) on XX XXX 2009.

The amount of USD 50.00 has successfully been debited from your credit/debit card.

This charge will appear on your card statement as a debit by: MB*Moneybookers.com

Sincerest regards,

Yes it is the same name, but now it is in Hong Kong! Just over the border from Guangzhou in China, where Evony is based. So let's take a virtual visit to the company registration department in Hong Kong and dig out some publicly available information about Regan Mercantile (Hong Kong) Limited:

So now we know the company registration number and that it is a private company. Let's look a bit further:

Gosh, now that is very interesting indeed. Regan Mercantile (Hong Kong) Limited is 100% owned by another Regan Mercantile company. This time in the Marshall Islands. You might ask yourself why a Chinese game business is based in a little island in the middle of the Pacific.  Well just look at this:

Features of Marshall Islands company:
* Bearer shares allowed.
* Directors not on public file.
* Exempt from all taxation.
* Shareholder information not on public file.
* No requirement to file accounts or annual return.
