today reported diluted earnings per common share for the quarter ended
September 30, 2008 (3Q08) of $1.09 compared to $1.78 per share for the
quarter ended September 30, 2007 (3Q07). 3Q08 consolidated revenues
rose 13% to $7.15Bn from $6.32Bn in 3Q07, with total premium and
administrative services fees up 15% compared to the prior year’s
quarter, primarily driven by higher average membership in 3Q08 versus
3Q07 for the company’s Medicare Advantage, Commercial medical and
specialty products. Looking ahead to the year ending December 31, 2009
(FY09), the company anticipates a significant increase in earnings over
that for the year ending December 31, 2008 (FY08) with EPS projected
