Oct. 5--Billboard artworks by Warren Rosser and Jaimie Warren and a new sculptural installation by Jesse Small were to be unveiled Friday at Missouri Bank's new Crossroads Branch, 125 Southwest Blvd.
The bank commissioned the artworks as part of Art through Architecture, or AtA, a new program designed to encourage architects and their clients to collect Kansas City art.
The program, which is sponsored and administered by the Charlotte Street Foundation and the American Institute of Architects-Kansas City, gives out gold, silver and bronze awards for art achievement based on the percentage of the project budget spent on art.
The Missouri Bank Crossroads Branch won a gold level Art Achievement Award from AtA for new art commissions.
Small's piece, a permanent site-specific installation made of plasma cut steel, features patterns inspired by nature. It was commissioned by the bank before the inception of AtA and grandfathered in by the program's curatorial selection panel.
Rosser's billboard design is based on one of his abstract paintings; Warren's billboard presents images from her ongoing series of snapshot-style photographs. The billboard artworks will change every four months. Additional artists will be chosen from AtA's artist database by Missouri Bank representatives.
