Nov. 17--Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a man today in connection with a Nov. 1 double shooting on Remount Road.
Jartavous Bernard Gaither, 23, was taken into custody in the shootings of Demetrius Adams and Anitra Hampton in the driveway of Adams' house. Gaither is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and two counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property, said police spokeswoman Jean Wassenaar.
Just before 7 a.m. on Nov. 1, Adams was shot walking into his home, and Hampton was shot sitting in a car in the driveway. Each was shot at least once from a gun fired from the street.
Police have warrants for two more suspects in the incident, Dewan Antonio Polk, 21, and Channon Eallen Bethea, 26. The CMPD Violent Criminal Apprehension Team is searching for the two. Both suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
