GTx Appoints Kenneth S. Robinson, MD to the Board of Directors

GTx, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTXI) today announced that Kenneth S. Robinson, MD, MDiv, has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Dr. Robinson will serve as a member of the Board’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees.

“Dr. Robinson brings to GTx leadership in public health policy, and we welcome him to the board of directors,” said Dr. Mitchell S. Steiner, CEO of GTx.

Dr. Robinson holds a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University, a M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School. From 2003 through 2007, he served in the cabinet of Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen as Commissioner of Health, overseeing 3,500 state employees and a $548 million budget. From 1982 through 1991, Dr. Robinson taught and practiced internal medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and from 1991 through 2003 he was an Assistant Dean at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Since 1991, he has served as Pastor and Chief Executive of St. Andrew AME Church. In 1998 Dr. Robinson was named one of the country’s Ten Community Health Leaders by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and in 2000 he received the Community Builder Award from the national United Way of America. He also carries an Honorary Doctorate from Meharry Medical College. He is an alumnus of Leadership Memphis, a Fellow of the Leadership Academy, and serves as a director or trustee of the Memphis Bioworks Foundation, the Soulsville Foundation, the Briggs Foundation, the Church Health Center, Healthy Memphis Common Table, and LeMoyne-Owen College.
