Navistar Appoints Smurfit-Stone President and COO Steven J. Klinger to Board of Directors

WARRENVILLE, Ill., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directorsof Navistar International Corporation (Other OTC: NAVZ) appointed Steven J.Klinger, president and chief operating officer, Smurfit-Stone ContainerCorporation (Nasdaq: SSCC), as a new director effective as of June 2, 2008.

Since joining Smurfit-Stone in May 2006, Klinger, 49, has been animportant driver of the company's three-year transformation process whichincludes reducing the company's cost structure, streamlining the manufacturingprocess, upgrading the leadership talent, and aligning sales and marketing.

Klinger joined Smurfit-Stone following a distinguished 23-year career atthe Georgia-Pacific Corporation where he most recently served as executivevice president, packaging, pulp and global procurement.


Klinger is a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree inaccounting and Duke University's Advanced Management Program. He served onthe Board of Directors of International Corrugated Case Association, TheAtlanta Academy and Georgia State University. He is a former chairman of theboard of the Fibre Box Association and a former board member of St. Jude'sHouse and Transition House.
