WILMINGTON, Del., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DuPont Titanium
Technologies today announced a price increase for all DuPont(TM) Ti-Pure(R)
titanium dioxide grades sold in Latin America.
Effective August 1 2008, prices for DuPont coatings, plastics, specialty,
paper, and laminate titanium dioxide grades will increase $150 (US$) per
metric ton in Latin America.
'While demand for TiO2 remains quite strong, our costs - from raw
materials to energy and utilities to reinvestment in production assets -- are
at historically high levels and continue to escalate,' said Ian Edwards,
global business director for DuPont Titanium Technologies. 'So we have no
choice but to immediately impose a new price increase, in addition to the ones
we announced in June and July. Given the current volatility and
unpredictability of our input costs, contracts are currently being
renegotiated to permit a more timely response to these external factors.'
