Republicans Join Democrats in Selecting Long-time Partner Xerox to
Manage Convention Print Shops
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul 2008
Convention Host Committee, which is hosting the 2008 Republican
National Convention, has selected Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) as its
exclusive provider of document
services.
Xerox will be responsible for all print shop operations at the Xcel
Energy Center for the Republican National Convention.
“We are pleased to be working with Xerox,
which has an excellent reputation for quality printing
and stellar customer service,” said Jeff
Larson, CEO of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul 2008 Host Committee.
The committee and Xerox will also work together to implement an
environmentally friendly document services program. As part of this year’s
initiative, convention staff will not only print fewer documents, but
also use recycled
paper and recycle
all toner bottles and cartridges.
“With information flowing fast at the
convention, Xerox is the one partner that makes it easier to share what’s
happening, when it’s happening, in an
efficient way,” said Doug
Lord, president of Xerox’s United States
Solutions Group. “Our technology and services
literally document the buzz on the convention floor.”
In addition, Let’s
Say Thanks®
– a Xerox-sponsored program aimed at saying “thank
you” to U.S. troops serving overseas –
will hold card drives to let attendees send messages of support to
America’s servicemen and women. Thousands of
postcards designed by children from across the country will be printed
on a Xerox
iGen3®
Digital Production Press, signed by hand, and then shipped overseas.
The 2008 Republican National Convention will be held Sept. 1-4 at the
Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn. More than 45,000 individuals,
including 15,000 media, are expected to attend the convention. Xerox has
had a role in supporting both the Republican and Democratic conventions
with services, equipment
and supplies
since 1988.
