Ceremony Kicks Off the Sixth Annual Deutsche Bank Championship

PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem and Deutsche Bank Americas CEO Seth Waugh rang The Opening BellSM at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) this morning to kick-off the Deutsche Bank Championship, which starts today at the Tournament Players Club Boston in Norton, Mass.

The Deutsche Bank Championship, which features a $7 million purse and a $1.26 million winner’s check is one of the premier events on the PGA TOUR and has become a New England Labor Day tradition. The Championship is the second of four PGA Tour Playoff events and will feature the best golfers in the world, including defending champion Phil Mickelson, Trevor Immelman, Padraig Harrington, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Vijay Singh and the rest of the top 120 golfers on the PGA TOUR.

“The Deutsche Bank Championship has become a New England sports tradition, and there’s no better place to kick it off than Wall Street, Deutsche Bank’s home in the Americas,” said Seth Waugh, CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas.

Practice rounds for the Deutsche Bank Championship begin today and Wednesday, Aug. 27, with a pro-am competition on Thursday, Aug. 28. The four-day Championship begins Friday, Aug. 29, and continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 1. The first two rounds of the Championship will be covered on Golf Channel, and the final two rounds will be televised on NBC Sports.
