SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- National
Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: NSM) will showcase its latest industry-leading
video products for the professional and broadcast markets at the International
Broadcasting Convention (IBC), September 12-16, at the RAI Center in
Amsterdam. The company will conduct live demonstrations of its
high-performance, low-power video solutions, including a demonstration of the
industry's first triple-rate serial digital interface (SDI) dual-channel
SerDes transceiver in a real-world broadcast studio environment, a
demonstration to showcase National's superior signal integrity in video
routers, a complete video timing reference design for triple-rate (3G/HD/SD)
SDI applications using FPGAs, and high-definition (HD) 1080i routing and
transmission over CAT5 cable.
National Broadcast Video Demonstrations -- Booth # F79
-- SDI Dual-Channel SerDes Transceiver: Demonstration of the industry's
first triple-rate SDI dual channel SerDes transceiver, together with low-cost
Xilinx and Altera FPGAs. The demonstration showcases the industry-leading
jitter performance of National's expanding SDI SerDes family by integrating
several different platforms to replicate a real-world broadcast studio
environment.
-- 3G-SDI 32 Error-Free Loops: Demonstration mimicking a video router
showcasing the cleanest triple-rate SDI signal integrity by looping error-free
through 32 channels of 3G-SDI equalizers, reclockers and cable drivers using a
stressful matrix pathological signal with 0.5 units interval (UI) of injected
jitter. A single 27 MHz reference crystal is shared among 32 reclockers. This
demonstration features National's LMH0344 SDI adaptive equalizer, LMH0356 SDI
reclocker and LMH0303 SDI driver with cable detection.
-- Video Clock Reference Design Module: Demonstration of National's new
video clock reference design module enhancing the jitter performance of Xilinx
Virtex-5 LXT FPGAs (to meet stringent SMPTE specifications) in a complete
video timing reference design for triple-rate (3G/HD/SD) SDI applications.
This demonstration features Nationals LMH1982 multi-rate video clock generator
with genlock and the LMH1981 sync separator.
-- HD 1080i Routing and Transmission over CAT5: Demonstration of analog
HD 1080i routing and transmission over low-cost CAT5 cable. This demonstration
features National's LMH6581 8 x 4 video crosspoint and PowerWise(R) LMH6733
1 GHz triple video op amps, which are configured to drive and receive
component video over various CAT5 cable lengths.
