Sep. 3--Oklahoma Natural Gas will offer its customers a voluntary fixed-price plan this winter, the company announced Wednesday. The program price for natural gas will be $11.048 per dekatherm for the 12-month period beginning Nov. 1.
"The voluntary fixed-price plan is a customer choice program that we offer to help customers manage their natural gas bills," ONG President Roger Mitchell said. "Participating in this program does not guarantee savings, but it is an option to help reduce the volatility of natural gas prices on customers' bills."
Those who sign up for the plan will continue to pay regular service and delivery charges, and bills will still vary according to usage, the company noted. Enrollment is open through Oct. 24 for residential and commercial customers who use 150 dekatherms or less annually. A dekatherm is the approximate amount of energy contained in 1,000 cubic feet of natural gas.
Customers may enroll by calling 1-800-208-7267 or online at tulsaworld.com/ongfixedplan. Oklahoma Natural Gas, a division of Tulsa-based Oneok Inc., serves about 800,000 customers statewide.
