Eighty-One Percent of FORTUNE Global 500 Companies Rely on Blue Coat for WAN Optimization and Secure Web Gateway

Ninety-Six of the 100 Largest Companies Worldwide Rely on Blue Coat to Secure the Internet Gateway and Enforce Policies while Accelerating Application Performance

Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:BCSI), the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that 81 percent of FORTUNE Global 500 companies are securing and accelerating their Internet connections and Wide Area Networks (WAN) with Blue Coat® ProxySG® appliances, according to the 2008 ranking by FORTUNE. In the U.S., 67 percent of Fortune 500 companies rely on Blue Coat appliances.

Based on the latest FORTUNE Global 500 and FORTUNE 500 lists, Blue Coat customers include the following:

  • 81 percent of the Fortune Global 500
  • 96 of the 100 largest companies in the world
  • 67 percent of the Fortune 500
  • The 10 largest companies in the U.S.
  • 49 of the 50 largest companies in the U.S.

Blue Coat solutions provide visibility, security and control of content and applications across enterprise Internet gateways and over the WAN to branch offices while accelerating business-critical traffic and reducing bandwidth consumption. The combined ability to secure and accelerate traffic enables some of the world’s largest organizations to solve application performance issues and consolidate infrastructure for streamlined management and a lower total cost of ownership.

From its recent acquisition of Packeteer, Blue Coat added 28 customers that are on the FORTUNE Global 500. The acquisition also brought 58 additional FORTUNE 500 customers to Blue Coat, including three in the top 100.
