Offerings Give Enterprise Clients a 360-Degree View from the Data
Center to the Desktop to Streamline IT Environments and Reduce Costs
Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced the availability of its
services-based solutions for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and
the Microsoft System Center management suite. These services simplify IT
infrastructure management, enhance security and reduce operational costs.
The Unisys services are designed to make it easier for clients using
Microsoft technologies to plan and deploy fully virtualized IT
environments as part of a real-time infrastructure, and help companies
focus on strategic transformation.
The Unisys virtualization services include:
-
Unisys 3D Blueprinting for Virtualization service, which helps clients
create a comprehensive virtualization plan that accounts for a full
range of business and IT requirements; and
-
Unisys Virtualization Operational Readiness Assessment (VORA) service,
which gives clients a detailed understanding of the full operational
impact of virtualization in advance, including changes to business and
IT processes.
“Unisys virtualization services help clients
take maximum advantage of the powerful new virtualization technologies
Microsoft is delivering to virtualize desktops, consolidate servers in a
data center or cost-effectively deploy business continuity initiatives,”
said Mark Feverston, general manager, Microsoft Solutions, Unisys. “They
can map out and build a virtualized, resource-efficient, low-cost
environment that quickly accelerates delivery of the benefits of a
real-time infrastructure.”
These two Unisys solutions were previously available for VMware and
other leading virtualization technologies. Now clients using a
combination of Unisys virtualization services can more efficiently and
clearly integrate a full range of virtualized resources from Microsoft
as well as other leading providers into their enterprise-wide IT
infrastructure.
“Our clients are keenly interested in
deploying new Microsoft virtualization technologies to help capture
savings and drive efficiencies from server, desktop and Microsoft
Exchange Server consolidation,” said Jeff
Parker, president of analyst and consulting firm Directions on
Microsoft. “Still, they’re
realistic about the risks of large-scale virtualization projects. The
Unisys services for virtualization give enterprise CIOs a concrete
roadmap to assess and navigate these risks.
