(Source: Marketwire)trackingTORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 15, 2008) - BacTech Mining Corporation ("BacTech" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:BM) today announced that a 500 kg sample of tailings taken from the Castle Mine tailings located in Gowganda, Ontario (Cobalt area), has been shipped by Gold Bullion Development Corp. (TSX VENTURE:GBB) to SGS Lakefield in Lakefield, Ontario.

Lakefield has been retained to provide assay and mineralization analysis for the sample, as well as conduct a study to identify the appropriate pre-concentration method to obtain maximum metal recovery. The resulting concentrate will be sent to SGS Oretest in Perth, Australia, where it will be subjected to a series of bioleaching amenability tests. The goals of the program are twofold. First, BacTech will be studying the affect of bioleaching on neutralizing the associated arsenic in the concentrate and, secondly, determining the viability of recovering the contained cobalt, silver and nickel.

BacTech also announces the launch of its newly-redesigned web site. The site now incorporates more information on current and past projects, as well as an accompanying photos gallery. The URL remains the same at www.bactech.com.

Finally, BacTech has decided not to pursue the Two Boys uranium project north of Godbout, Quebec, and will drop its option. The Company will continue to focus on opportunities that can use BacTech's proprietary bioleach technology and provide it with equity participation as well.

BACTECH PROFILE

BacTech has developed and patented bacterial oxidation technology for the treatment of refractory ores and concentrates to enhance the recovery of gold, silver and base metals. BacTech has successfully commissioned three bioleach plants for gold and demonstrated its technology in the selective recovery of base metals from complex sulphide concentrates in a joint project with Industrias Penoles de C.V. of Mexico that was completed in 2001. The Company's focus is the acquisition of equity positions in projects amenable to bioleaching. The Company recently signed an agreement to acquire Yamana Gold Inc.'s 33% interest in 2 refractory gold deposits in Papua New Guinea.
