DreamWorks' Action/Thriller Has Been Digitally Re-Mastered for IMAX's
Format
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX),
and DreamWorks Pictures today announced that the new action thriller, Eagle
Eye, will open domestically on September 26, 2008 in 84 IMAX(R) theatres,
including 14 new IMAX digital theatres, in conjunction with the film's
nationwide release. The film will also open in 13 IMAX theatres
internationally throughout the coming weeks starting on September 25th.
Eagle Eye has been digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and
sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) with proprietary IMAX DMR(R) (Digital
Re-mastering) technology.
Eagle Eye is a race-against-time thriller starring Shia LaBeouf, Michelle
Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Anthony Mackie and Billy Bob Thornton. Jerry Shaw
(LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Monaghan) are two strangers thrown together by
a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their
lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly
dangerous situations - using the technology of everyday life to track and
control their every move. As the situation escalates, these two ordinary
people become the country's most wanted fugitives, who must work together to
discover what is really happening - and more importantly, why.
"The opening of Eagle Eye marks first day and date release in both IMAX
and IMAX digital theatres," said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L.
Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. "Our new IMAX digital theatre system is
fueling the growth of the IMAX network, which is giving more people the
opportunity to experience movies such as Eagle Eye in the most immersive way."
"The continuous and exciting action in Eagle Eye will give audiences a
thrill ride when they experience it in IMAX," added Greg Foster, Chairman and
President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "We are pleased to work with
DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures once again to transport audiences
into an unforgettable immersive cinematic adventure."
