3Com Corporation (NASDAQ: COMS) today announced that the company’s
Board of Directors has elected Kathleen Cote, the former chief executive
officer of Worldport Communications, Inc., to serve as a Class I
director, effective September 25, 2008. She is the seventh member of the
3Com Board of Directors and will also serve as a member of the Board’s
Audit and Finance Committee and Nominating and Governance Committee.
Cote will be an “independent”
board member.

Cote is a private investor and advisor providing strategic and
operational expertise to technology companies. From May 2001 through
June 2003 she was CEO of Worldport Communications, Inc., a provider of
managed Internet services to the European market. Prior to becoming
Worldport’s CEO, Cote was president and
founder of Seagrass Partners, a provider of expertise in business
planning and strategic development. She also has held various senior
management positions, including CEO, at Computervision Corporation, an
international provider of software for data management and product
development software and services.

director of Western Digital Corporation, Forgent Networks, Inc. (d/b/a
Asure Software) and VeriSign, Inc.
