Insurance Company Honored by BusinessWeek Magazine Three
Years in a Row
Recent college graduates not sure where to start their job search just
got a little extra help from BusinessWeek magazine. The publication
recently announced its annual list of Best Places to Launch a Career,
and Progressive
has been recognized again as a great place to start a career.
“Our goal is to create an environment where
people are motivated to do their best and where they can grow constantly,”
said John Hoppes, manager of Progressive’s
National Employment Team. “That’s
why we reward our people for the ideas they bring to the table and the
energy they invest in their work.”
College grads with majors such as actuarial science, management
information systems, information technology, computer science, business,
and economics are generally the most sought after by the car insurer.
“Our people are entrusted with a great deal of
responsibility at all levels of the company, so we also seek out
creative problem-solvers with strong communication skills,”
said Hoppes.
BusinessWeek compiled the list in three steps. Career services directors
at leading universities across the U.S. were asked to identify top
employers. Those employers were then asked to respond to an extensive
survey on hiring, pay, benefits, training programs and advancement
opportunities. Finally, market research firm Universum Communications
supplied data from its survey of more than 40,000 U.S. undergraduates
about their most desirable employers. Information from all three sources
was combined to calculate the final ranking.
