Medvedev Orders Probing Deadly S. Ossetia Bombing

Oct 4 (Interfax) - President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the Defense Ministry, law enforcement agencies and the Foreign Ministry to investigate a bombing in the South Ossetian capital, Tskhinvali, on Friday, that is reported to have claimed 11 lives, most of the fatalities being Russian peacekeepers, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

Medvedev also ordered the Defense Ministry, "in coordination with the law enforcement forces of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia, to take all necessary measures to prevent criminal acts against Russian peacekeepers and the civilian population of the republics," the Kremlin press service said.
