Fans Vote via Text Messages; Only College Football Honor Determined by Fan Voting

ATLANTA, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Four nominees for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week award have been announced after the sixth week of college football action, and now it's up to fans to determine the winner. University of North Carolina linebacker Bruce Carter, Texas Tech University quarterback Graham Harrell, Army fullback Collin Mooney and University of Illinois quarterback Juice Williams have been selected by ESPN as this week's top candidates, based on the players' outstanding performances over the weekend. Fans can text message VOTE to 51234 on their wireless phone to opt in for the chance to vote.

Carter, this year's first defensive player nominee, overwhelmed Connecticut's offense by blocking three punts and helped the Tarheel's beat the Huskies 38-12. Harrell, already with one 2008 AT&T All-America Player of the Week award under his belt, led his undefeated #7 Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 58-28 win over Kansas State by throwing six touchdown passes in 454 yards, and running one touchdown in himself. Mooney, a senior, ran for four touchdowns and finished with 187 yards on 19 carries in the Black Knights' 44-13 victory over Tulane Lewis. Williams threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 121 yards and two additional touchdowns to lead Illinois to a 45-20 win over the Wolverines. His 451 total yards in offense matched an opponent record against Michigan.

'This honor is rewarded for exceptional play on the field and all of the nominees have had outstanding performances this past weekend,' said Tim McGhee, director of corporate sponsorships for AT&T. 'And while we are excited to present the opportunity, it is now all in the fans hands to determine the week four recipient of the AT&T All-America Player of the Week Award.'

Fans have until 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday to submit their votes. The winner will be announced during Thursday's ESPN College Football Primetime Presented by Applebee's. Standard text messaging rates apply.

There is no limit on fan voting, and each vote counts as one entry into a sweepstakes to win a trip to the 2009 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship game in Miami.
