The talks involve Moldova, Transdniestria, Russia, Ukraine, OSCE, and also U.S. and European Union observers.

"The meeting, organized by the mediators and observers in the Transdniestrian settlement, was cancelled after Transdniestria refused to attend," the Moldovan Reintegration Ministry told Interfax on Sunday.

The U.S. embassy in Moldova expressed regret on Sunday over the Transdniestrian side's refusal to participate in the 5 plus 2 talks.
