Oct. 13--Richfield Village President Diane Pedersen said today that she will not seek re-election in April 2009 to a full two-year term.
As Richfield's final town chairman, Pedersen ushered the community through incorporation as a village and became its first president when she was elected to a one-year term in April of this year. She was unopposed in the race.
Richfield incorporated as a village Feb. 13.
Pedersen served as town supervisor from 1997 to 2005 and was town chairman from 2005 to February of this year when she became interim village president prior to the April election.
"While I have truly enjoyed working with all our residents, it is time to pursue new ventures in my retirement," she said in a statement.
Pedersen, 67, retired in 2006 from her job as a marketing specialist with GE Healthcare.
