The Dow Jones industrials are up more than 700 points, and all the major indexes are up more than 8 percent.

A rebound was to be expected after the Dow lost nearly 2,400 points over eight sessions. And, this big advance does not mean that the stock market can put all its concerns about tight credit and the economy behind it. Prices often ratchet up and down in a recovery.

Still, the mood on the Street is optimistic as governments take a more aggressive approach toward the global financial crisis.

The Dow is up 701 at the 9,152 level.
