Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: WYE) said Thursday results from two late-stage clinical trials on its antidepressant drug candidate desvenlafaxine succinate showed success in improving symptoms of major depression. The company, a division of Wyeth, presented the findings at the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting. The studies, with 461 participants in the first and 375 participants in the second, compared the drug's effect with several scales used to measure symptoms of major depressive disorder.
