Thursday, June 05, 2008 8:01 AM

SINGAPORE and WILMINGTON, Del., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --Reflecting the inexorable and accelerating rise in energy related costsexperienced so far in 2008, DuPont Titanium Technologies today announced aprice increase for all DuPont(TM) Ti-Pure(R) titanium dioxide grades sold inthe Asia Pacific region.

Effective July 1, 2008, or as permitted by contract, prices for alltitanium dioxide grades (TiO2) will increase $150 USD per ton in Asia exceptthe People's Republic of China and Japan.

Effective July 1, 2008, or as permitted by contract, prices in China willincrease by 1.5RMB/kg.

A price increase for Japan was already announced on February 29, 2008.

When previous price increases were announced, the price for oil was movingtoward $100 per barrel and our price actions were designed to move TiO2 pricesto reflect those costs over time. Recently, the rate at which energy costs areincreasing has accelerated very significantly. DuPont continues to leadthrough investments in energy conservation and cost reduction programs butthat alone cannot counter the escalation in input costs. We must urgentlyaccelerate our price increase actions. The increases implemented to date andthose announced here are needed to support the needs of our customers in thegrowing Asian markets.
