CHICAGO, June 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Airlines and theAssociation of Flight Attendants today announced that they have come toagreement on a one-time opportunity for eligible flight attendants tovoluntarily separate from the company. The program will be available for up to600 United flight attendants.
Flight attendants who are at least 45 years old and have at least 15 yearsof flight attendant service with the company as of August 1, 2008 will beeligible to participate. Participants will be entitled to severance paymentsbased on years of service and retiree travel benefits.
'We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the AFA that benefitsour employees and our company, and will mitigate the impact of our announcedcapacity reductions,' said Alex Marren, senior vice president -- OnboardService for United.
United will continue to explore viable alternatives related to capacityreductions with all unions representing its employees.
