LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The winner of a contract worth GBP1 billion a year to become temporary owner of Sellafield Ltd that is managing the decommissioning of the nuclear site is expected to be announced in July, the U.K.'s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority said Wednesday.
The four consortiums that have submitted final tenders are: CH2MHill Nuclear Services Ltd.; Fluor Ltd, a unit of Fluor Corp (NYSE:FLR) (FLR) in partnership with Toshiba Corp (Tokyo:6502) (6502.TO); SBB Nuclear that includes Serco Group PLC (LSE:SRP) (SRP.LN), Bechtel Group Inc. and Babcock & Wilcox; and Nuclear Management Partners Ltd that includes Washington International Holdings Ltd., AMEC Nuclear Holdings Ltd and AREVA NC, a unit of Areva (Euronext:CEI) (CEI.FR).
The NDA expects to finalize the contract, which can last a maximum of 17 years, in October.
Sellafield Ltd receives GBP1 billion a year from the NDA to manage and decommission the plant.
The NDA plans 2120 as the date for final site clearance and closure.
