HRPT Properties Trust (NYSE: HRP) announced the results of its annual meeting held earlier today, as follows:

• Frederick J. Zeytoonjian was re-elected as an Independent Trustee receiving 85% of all shares outstanding.
• Barry M. Portnoy was re-elected as a Managing Trustee receiving 80% of all shares outstanding.

Both Messrs. Zeytoonjian and Portnoy were elected for three (3) year terms until the 2011 annual meeting.

Also on the agenda for today’s meeting was a proposal by the Service Employees International Union pension plan (the “Union”) which requested that the HRP Board consider appointing an independent trustee to serve as chairman. However, yesterday afternoon the Union notified HRP that it was withdrawing its proposal, and this proposal was not considered at the meeting. An informal count of the proxies received for the meeting showed that the Union’s proposal would have received approximately 33% of all shares outstanding if this proposal had been properly presented.

The percentages of share votes discussed in this press release are based upon preliminary tabulations and may be changed when the inspector of elections appointed at the meeting completes his final tabulation and files his report with the official records of the meeting.
