TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (NYSE:MC) (6752.TO) said Thursday that its shareholders approved a proposal to change the company's name to " Panasonic Corporation."
The Japanese electronics maker said in a statement that the name change will take effect Oct. 1 and will apply to some group companies currently using the names Matsushita or National.
Matsushita also noted that its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange will be changed from "MC" to "PC" starting in October.
