The Hopkinton, Mass., maker of systems that store and retrieve large amounts of data said You, 48 years old, joins the company from BearingPoint (NYSE:BE) (BE), where he was chief executive.

Shares of EMC were trading Tuesday down 11 cents at $15.79.
