infoGROUP (NASDAQ: IUSA), the leading provider of proprietary business and consumer databases, local business listings for directories, POIs for navigation systems, sales leads, direct marketing, and email marketing, and global information, today announced its infoUSA division's US business database of 14 million records have been licensed by Topix, the largest news community on the web, for its nationwide, local business directory.

As part of the agreement, Topix retrieves infoUSA data through a XML based API that allows searches to be performed in real time on the most current local business database available with infoUSA. Topix users can search infoUSA's local business information including restaurants, shopping, entertainment, sports, beauty, fitness and travel categories to name a few. In a typical month, infoUSA touches about 15% of business database including adding 130,000 brand news businesses and removing about 125,000 "out-of- business" records from the database, primarily as a result of phone verification of local businesses.
