OVERLAND PARK, KS -- (Marketwire) -- 08/08/08 -- Leland Orr, chairman and chief executive
officer of Brooke Savings Bank, announced today that the bank's board of
directors has approved changing the bank's name to Generations Bank, the
bank's name as originally chartered. The board also approved renovation of
a Phillips County historic landmark as the new headquarters of Generations
Bank.
From its original charter date until January 2007, Brooke Savings Bank was
known as Generations Bank. In January 2007, the bank's name was changed to
Brooke Savings Bank to reflect the anticipated recruitment of Brooke
Capital Corporation's property and casualty insurance agents as bank
agents. Although the bank continues to actively recruit Brooke agents, the
majority of its agents are not Brooke insurance agents due to the recent
acquisition of bank agent locations from Bank of the West. To reflect this
development, Brooke Savings Bank is becoming Generations Bank.
Generations Bank has also acquired the Masonic Lodge building in
Phillipsburg, Kan., which will be renovated into the bank's headquarters.
The building is located at the intersection of 4th and G streets and has
served as a meeting place for Free Masons for 100 years. Generations Bank
plans to renovate the two-story brick building to much of its original
splendor. The Generations Bank headquarters will serve Phillips County bank
customers and the bank's agents, and provide support for customers served
by its bank agents.
