Aug. 13--On his 19th anniversary as Aflac Inc. chief executive officer, Dan Amos has a busy afternoon planned today in New York City.
The Aflac chairman and CEO will help ring The New York Stock Exchange closing bell at 4 p.m.
Two other top U.S. executives, Trudy Sullivan, president and CEO of The Talbots, Inc., and Leigh Abrams, CEO of Drew Industries Inc., will join him.
The three are then scheduled to appear on CNBC's "Closing Bell" with Maria Bartiromo and Dylan Ratigan at 4:30 p.m. The show regularly features analysts, money managers and CEOs who explain their business strategies and share opinions on current events.
At the same time, the NYSE releases today its fourth annual CEO survey, in which Amos also participated. Opinion Research Corp. conducted the NYSE Euronext's 2009 Report and interviewed more than 250 CEOs with companies on the NYSE about the current economic climate.
This year, the survey showed CEOs agreed the economy has changed dramatically. About 90 percent of respondents said current U.S. economic conditions were fair or poor -- compared to 16 percent last year.
Other survey highlights include CEO presidential advice: about one in four CEOs say the next U.S. president should keep taxes low or reduce them, and about the same percentage said he should cut regulation and compliance costs.
Amos will participate in a roundtable discussion about the survey on the NYSE's Web site, www.nyse.com, this afternoon as well.
The survey, entitled "Managing During Economic Turbulence," will be available today at www.nyse.com.
Internet viewers can also watch a live webcast on the Web site of Amos and the two other CEOs ringing The Closing Bell beginning at 3:59 p.m. today.
