Aug. 13--ANHEUSER-BUSCH UPS RETIREMENT PACKAGE: Workers in Riverside are among those eligible for Anheuser-Busch's enhanced retirement program detailed Tuesday, as the St. Louis-based beer company looks to cut costs in advance of its merger with Belgian brewer InBev by trimming salaried staff by 10 to 15 percent.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Anheuser-Busch said it is boosting its previously announced retirement plan options for salaried employees who will be at least 55 by the end of the year. All 1,300 eligible participants will now get severance pay worth up to 12 months of their salary, and pension benefits will be enhanced by an added three years of credited age and years of service for most employees who choose to participate.

Tim Farrell, vice president of corporate human resources, said in an e-mail statement that salaried employees at the brewer's wholesale distribution operation in Riverside, as well as the Riverside lid plant of its subsidiary Metal Container Corp., are eligible for the program.
