Aug. 26--Anyone driving down West Willow with their windows down around 4 p.m. Monday was able to smell the mishap that occurred in the area.

A gas leak in a construction area, just off the 1700 block of West Willow, was cause for some concern Monday afternoon.

"It's my understanding that they were doing construction and cut a high-pressure gas line," said Enid Fire Department Capt. Denton Morgan. "Actually, they just nicked it."

"They hit it with some dirt-moving equipment," said EFD Lt. Ralph Krehbiel.

The gas leak was contained by the fire department relatively quickly.

"We were able to pinch the (poly pipe) shut," said Morgan. "(Oklahoma Natural Gas) crews are on the scene, and they'll make the necessary repairs."

"It's under control," said Krehbiel.
