Aug. 30--EERC hires six

The Energy & Environmental Research Center at UND has filled six open positions.

Jeanie Clement, Travel Coordinator in Financial Services, coordinates all EERC travel arrangements, prepares travel reimbursements and maintains the travel database, reports and forms, as well as administers EERC fleet vehicles. She's also served as an account technician at the EERC.

Gregory Dvorak, research engineer, works in the area of process engineering and design related to the conversion of coal and biomass to fuels, chemicals and energy. He holds master's and bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering from UND.

Janelle Hoffarth, research specialist, works in the fuels and materials research laboratory specializing in the analysis of coal and coal by-products. She holds an Associate of Science degree from the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. Before this position, she worked at the Center for Diagnostic Imaging in Alexandria, Minn., and as a laboratory technician at the EERC for 15 years.

Laurie Kroke, accountant, prepares, examines and analyzes accounting and budget-related statements, reports and supporting documents and identifies, researches and resolves accounting discrepancies. She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from UND and an A.A.S. in Business Management and an A.A. in Business Administration from the North Dakota State College of Science. She is a certified public accountant and has worked for Vaaler Insurance.

Jacob Phillips, project manager in intellectual property management, works with the EERC commercialization team and EERC senior researchers to manage intellectual property for EERC projects. He holds a law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law and a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before the EERC, he worked as a law clerk for U.S. Investigation Services, Eagan, Minn., patent law clerk for Locke, Liddell & Sapp in Minneapolis and summer associate for Hylands Law Firm in Beijing, China.

Jeffrey Schuetzle, research engineer, works in the area of process engineering and design related to hydrogen production and emission control technologies. He also provides engineering support on advanced pilot systems for testing and developing alternative fuels.

Schuetzle holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from UND. He's also served in a design engineer co-op position at Ingersoll Rand, Bobcat Co. in Bismarck.
