139-Room Holiday Inn Express Quito Will Be the First IHG Hotel to Open in Ecuador

IHG (LSE:IHG) (NYSE:IHG) (ADRs), the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, today announced that the new 12-story Holiday Inn Express Quito in Ecuador has recently opened. This new property, IHG’s first hotel in Ecuador, further demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding the Holiday Inn Express brand throughout key cities in Latin America, as it is the 14th Holiday Inn Express located in Central and South America.

“We are thrilled to be opening the first Holiday Inn Express in the dynamic city of Quito and in the beautiful country of Ecuador,” said Alvaro Diago, Area President, IHG Latin America. “This is truly an exciting moment for IHG, as we continue to increase our reach into new Latin American territories, solidifying our position as one of the leading hotel companies in the region.”

The Holiday Inn Express Quito, located on the corner of Orellana Avenue and Calle Reina Victoria was developed and is managed and owned by Plushotel S.A., under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Sitting 2,850m (9,300 ft.) above sea level, Quito is one of the highest capital cities in the world and the political and cultural hub of Ecuador. It boasts a mild climate throughout the year due to its location just 15 miles from the equator. The culturally-rich city is recognized for its mix of architectural beauty and historic roots. Today, Quito is still known as the cultural capital of the Americas and has a population of approximately 2.1 million.

Conveniently located in one of the trendiest and fastest growing neighborhoods of Quito, the Holiday Inn Express is just a few blocks from two landmark tourist attractions, Parque El Ejido and Museo Nacional del Banco Central. Parque El Ejido is a popular open market where vendors from across Ecuador travel to sell their goods, and tourists can find local handcrafts and souvenirs. Another must-see is the Museo Nacional del Banco Central, which features a wide-array of exhibits from ancient artifacts to contemporary paintings.

The 141-guestroom Holiday Inn Express Quito has a unique look and feel that integrates aspects from Ecuador’s luscious natural life including its native orchids and birds, distinct mountainous peaks and the popular Galapagos Islands.
