US-based customer analytics vendor Acxiom has acquired the direct marketing technology unit of Alvion, a Florida-based web applications developer.
Acxiom said the acquisition will give it an online marketing list-fulfillment platform that can be used by SMBs to access marketing information in a SaaS environment. The Alvion ListKey platform provides list counts, reporting, and fulfillment of data orders, and offers delivery options including small data storefronts, professional storefronts, and "data pipes."
Mary Jo Yafchak, a former Alvion president, will be responsible for the product, sales, and marketing functions of the acquired unit, while Gary Schmidt, Alvion president and part-owner, will manage the technical operations.
Alex Dietz, senior vice president for information products at Acxiom, said: "Bringing Alvion together with Acxiom allows us to continue improving the quality of our online, self-service solutions and enhance those services with other core Acxiom capabilities. Ultimately, it will help us respond more quickly when clients move to new geographies and tap into new data sets."
In July, Acxiom acquired the database marketing solutions division of ChoicePoint Precision Marketing. Last year, it acquired New York-based EchoTarget, which provides customized targeting solutions for online advertisers and publishers.
