Conseco Inc., down $1.33 at $6.63

The insurer's holdings in three troubled companies amount to less than 1 percent of its $23 billion portfolio, but investors worried about liquidity.

OfficeMax Inc., down $1.46 at $11.77

While the impact is still being evaluated, the office products retailer disclosed a tie to Lehman Brothers that could cause financial problems.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc., up $23.97 at $131.97

A government proposal to buy bad bank loans helped boost shares of the beaten-up independent investment bank, one of only two left on Wall Street.

Tupperware Brands Corp., up $1.20 at $29.44

Renewed strength in the dollar is cutting into overseas revenue, and the food storage container maker cut its annual profit and revenue forecast.

IHS Inc., down $8.41 at $52.09

The information provider said 2008 revenue will come in at the high end of its forecast if it closes on its $200 million purchase of Global Insight by Oct. 1.

Oracle Corp., up $1.59 at $20.34

The business software maker posted a 28 percent jump in quarterly profit, easing broader concerns about a slowdown in corporate technology spending.

Cintas Corp., down $1.48 at $30.23

The nation's largest supplier of corporate uniforms, said Thursday its fiscal 2009 first-quarter profit fell as customers cut jobs and energy costs increased.

Biogen Idec Inc., up $2.40 at $49.54

A study gave good results for multiple sclerosis drug Avonex and another allayed concerns about side effects for MS treatment Tysabri.
